Anointing the Sick

It is suggested the parishioners notify the Parish office prior to being admitted to the hospital if you would like to receive the Sacrament of the Sick or be included in our Mass intentions. All hospitals in the Ottawa area have a priest on call to respond to urgent needs.

For anyone who is not able to be part of the community due to illness, please contact the parish office so that we can arrange for a visit from the Pastor or pastoral care team to bring you Holy Communion.

PLEASE PRAY… for all the sick and shut-ins, especially our relatives, friends, and parishioners.

Marriage

So, you’re engaged to be married? How exciting!

But, do you fully understand the Sacrament of Marriage? Your wedding is one day. Marriage is for the rest of your lives! Please contact the parish office at least one year in advance of your anticipated wedding date.

Marriage Preparation

A marriage preparation course provides an opportunity to identify your hopes and dreams and get into the habit of keeping the lines of communication open and effective. Not only does it give you the chance to uncover important issues that may be uncomfortable to discuss, it provides ways of addressing these issues effectively before they become a problem. In addition, the marriage preparation course provides time for you to spend together to reflect on what you want, where you are going and how you see your future lives together.

Marriage Preparation Courses are available across the diocese and in our neighbouring dioceses.
Visit the Ottawa-Cornwall Archdiocese website for more information on marriage preparation and upcoming courses

Funerals

Death in the Christian Context: A beginning, not an end

Please contact the parish soon after a death has occurred. The decision regarding the date and time of a funeral Mass or prayer service is made collectively between the family, parish and funeral director.

Many Catholics request that a Mass be offered for the deceased. Masses for the deceased, announced or unannounced, can be requested from our parish office.

Our Lady of the Visitation also offers the possibility of having a reception in the OLV banquet hall following a funeral or burial. Information regarding hall bookings and licensed catering services is available through the OLV Hall Manager.
